Crossing All Barriers

Yesterday my husband and I brought our dogs to Wolfeboro, NH for some puppy socialization. Bringing the puppy, was like having Kim Kardashian with us. We suspected our 4 month old Saint Bernard was exceptionally cute. It was confirmed yesterday by the swarms of people who wanted to squeeze him and joked about stealing him.
Chris and I go to Wolfeboro all the time. It’s a beautiful town on Lake Winnipesaukee with little storesand restaurants. Wolfeboro is also known to be a little snooty. Chris and I could spend the day there without anyone starting a conversation with us.
Chris and I probably chatted with 100 people yesterday. The social interactions could of gone on all day. It was so overwhelming, we had to give the puppy super star a break. This furry creature was able to bring people of all classes, races, and ages together. Everyone’s opening statement was pleasant, friendly and  appreciative. People showed compassion and love to our 2 year old dog making sure he didn’t feel left out.
The goal of puppy socialization is for a dog to learn early on that people are not something to be afraid of. As a dog owner we want to show them that humans are kind and gentle. I think Chris and I were also reminded about sweet and approachable people can be. It seems like the world need more puppies. Maybe we should loan Valentino out as a peace embassedor. Could unification be so simple?
