I write my weekly blog on Tuesday mornings from the elliptical machine. While walking into the gym this morning I was pondering what today’s topic should be. The lady at the counter said, “I can’t wait to see your outfit. You always look so nice.” I turned, to see who she was talking to. Since I was the only one around, and I was carrying my clothes on a hanger, I realized she was talking to me.
A simple statement from a lady that I don’t even know her name, impacted me. As I cheerfully walked to the locker room, I thought, I better do my hair and makeup because, apparently people notice.
As a domestic violence counselor, I spend a lot of time teaching about the consequences of hurtful, mean words. Sometimes I forget the power of nice words.
The words we say to ourselves are powerful too. Whether we compliment or chastise ourselves matters.
For today…Focus on what you like about yourself and others. Say nice things as frequently as you can. See if it changes anything. Be sure to let me know!
LOVE THIS!!!

There is no denying on the power of words. They make and break not only our world but the world around us. Thanks for reminder 🙂

Words that are kind and true can change the world….said some wise person.
What we easily forget is that it applies to the words (thoughts) we use on ourselves.
Thanks for the reminder! Becky

Becky, you are one of the kindest and encouraging people I know! If you directed a fraction of your positive words to yourself you would be gloating all day 😊

It’s so true! I’ve noticed people are so quick to throw out some mean quip but no one wants to say something nice. Maybe if more people were kind, the world would be a better place.
